Bright Floral Painted Vintage Folk Marriage Box

This is a neat sized marriage box with professional folk painted decoration, the colour scheme and general design are tradition-bound, here the artist gives something a little more, it’s very lively, a virtuoso performance. The central motif is one of tulips, indicative of its Hungarian origins, this is a marriage dowry piece from the Kaloteszeg in Transylvania. It is dated 1964. Crafted from pine, the interior is clean and it is in good condition. Eastern Europe mid-20th century.
