Superb Decorative Painted Antique Box Bench

A piece with much to admire, both in its generous proportions and in the quality of its craftsmanship. It is skilfully made and enhanced by finely executed painted decoration of a professional standard. In the Baroque or Rococo taste, it was likely commissioned as a one-off piece, perhaps for a marriage or ecclesiastical setting.
