Printed by Mourlot in a limited edition of only 2,500 copies. Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and theatre designer who spent most of his life in France. Recognised as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, Picasso was a trailblazer in movements such as Cubism, Surrealism, Expressionism, and collage, earning him a central place in Modern Art. Over his prolific career, he produced more than 20,000 works across various media, including paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, and theatrical designs. From the mid-1940s, Picasso worked extensively with the Mourlot Studios in Paris, creating over 400 lithographs and exhibition posters. His close collaboration with master printer Henri Deschamps, one of his most trusted partners at Mourlot, continued from 1945 until Picasso’s death in 1973."
