Large Folk Art Painted Pine Marriage Cupboard with Roses on Blue & Cream

A handsome and substantial antique pine marriage cupboard, retaining its rare original folk-art painted decoration and dated 1847.

The cupboard features a useful top drawer above the main doors, with the painted surface giving the piece wonderful character and a strong sense of its Central European origins. The survival of this original decorative finish is particularly appealing and increasingly difficult to find.

As was traditional with larger cupboards of this type, it was cleverly constructed in two sections. It can therefore be dismantled, making transportation and installation considerably easier despite its generous proportions.

A highly decorative piece of folk furniture with great presence, lovely original character and the practical advantage of being able to break down for access.
