Antique Pine Folk Art Marriage Cupboard with Flowers

A beautiful antique pine marriage cupboard, dated 1828, with a wonderfully preserved folk-art painted exterior.

The four principal panels are filled with delicate floral decoration on a soft blue ground, each framed by lively, colourful flowers and foliage. These sit against a warm yellow-brown grain-painted base, creating a particularly attractive contrast and giving the cupboard the unmistakable charm of early 19th-century Central European folk furniture.

The interior is equally pleasing, remaining in nice original condition and thoughtfully arranged with useful cubby holes together with ample hanging space. The original internal catch remains in place, while the lock and key are both functioning.

In excellent, robust condition throughout, this is a very decorative yet eminently practical piece, with lovely original character and a beautifully aged painted surface.
