Antique Folk Art Painted Box Bench with Tulips

A robust antique pine and oak box bench with a distinctive folk art painted finish, possibly decorated to celebrate a marriage. The tulip motifs suggest Hungarian origins, lending colour and character to this practical country piece.

In very good, clean condition, with a lift-up seat revealing a generous storage compartment. A lovely choice for a kitchen or hallway.

Attributed to Hungary, circa 1870.
